| HTML - Beginner (132073) | From Jan 19th to Mar 9th, 2019 Saturday 13:30 to 16:30, room 2F.20 Laboratory - Computer - Business Admin Group number W19-132073
Prerequisite: Introduction to Mac, Windows or equivalent knowledge and familiarity with the internet
HTML is the markup language used to create web pages. Students will be introduced to elements that result in successful sites such as image preparation, page layout control, navigation and typography. Topics include specific issues relating to the web: cache files, uniform resource locators, browser-server interaction, file size and quality trade-offs.
This course elaborates the effective use of many advanced features of web publishing-compound tables, forms, frames and Cascading Style Sheets. Design concepts like page layout, navigation strategy and site styling are balanced with more practical considerations such as editorial voice, site content, server transfers, the publishing cycle and promotion.
The principles underlying interactive documents will also be covered: how to build interactive forms, how to collect data for surveys, install access counters, cut and paste JavaScript, embed sound, use Flash and Shockwave and where to find web resources for specific tasks. Students will learn to develop focused, effective sites and will publish a small personal site to an external server.
