Prerequisite:

Students who wish to take the course must be able to affirm:
  • I can understand a slow, articulated speech on a familiar, everyday subject.
  • I can understand phrases and words related to immediate areas such as personal and family information, employment, shopping, etc.
  • I can present or describe people, daily activities, living conditions, likes and dislikes.

Overall Goals:
  1. This workshop is intended for beginner-level students who wish to improve their understanding of the French language, as well as their oral expression. Emphasis will be placed on the construction of a complete and well-conjugated sentence, followed by a few consecutive sentences until the mastery of short dialogues and simple conversations. Pronunciation will also be practiced.

  2. Role-playing games as well as activities in pairs or small groups will allow students to practice the notions seen in the French as a second language courses for beginners, levels 1 and 2. Oral production will be maximized. Special attention will be given to enriching vocabulary and expressions most useful in everyday life.

  3. Subjects and themes will be proposed to students. Among the themes proposed: presentation of oneself and others, health, family, shopping, travel, food, vacations and travel, leisure, daily activities, life in Quebec.

  • Talking about different jobs, talking about your skills and qualities
  • Understand common instructions
  • Asking for help in your workplace
  • Orientation in a city

Methodology:

Classes will begin with the enrichment of vocabulary that students will use in the workshop, but also in everyday life. This can be done using glossaries, short videos or written material.

Required Material:

Students may choose to purchase either a digital book or a paper book, not both.
The purchase should only be made after the first class.
