Prerequisite:

Students who wish to take the course must be able to affirm:
  • I can converse, but I still lack a lot of vocabulary.
  • I understand relatively well when I listen to a conversation.
  • I still have difficulty expressing complex ideas.
  • I know how to conjugate past tense (past tense, imperfect, and more-than-perfect).
  • I still make mistakes with some conjugations and grammatical rules.

Overall Goals:
  1. This workshop is intended for intermediate level students who wish to improve their understanding of the French language, their oral expression, and who wish to enrich their vocabulary.

  2. Discussions and debates in large groups and activities in small teams will allow students to practice the French language. Oral production is maximized. Special attention is given to the enrichment of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions.

  3. Subjects and themes will be proposed to students. Some topics may be added, according to the interests of the participants. Among the ideas proposed: official languages in Quebec and Canada, tourism, cooking, current events, family, animal protection, etc.

Intended Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe a person
  • Talking about yourself in the past tense
  • Interact to solve a domestic problem
  • Understanding information and advertising
  • Receiving and giving news

Methodology:

This course will allow the enrichment of vocabulary and idiomatic expressions that will be useful to the students for the workshop but also in everyday life. This enrichment of vocabulary can be done using various documents proposed in the book (advertisements, texts, audio recordings, etc.).

Required Material :

Students may choose to purchase either a digital book or a paper book, not both.
