This course is the second of a 2-course package designed for students who want to develop a better understanding of the basic applications of accounting and SAGE 50 – one of the most popular accounting software used by small and medium-sized businesses today.

Building on the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous course, students will learn how to handle more involved transactions and to produce supporting documents and reports from the computerized accounting system. Emphasis will be placed upon familiarizing students with electronic applications as well as standard accounting terminology used in Quebec. A Certificate of Participation will be issued to students upon successful completion of the course.

Financed by le Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur, this first-of-a-kind pilot project delivers new educational and training services to students and communities located outside the downtown Dawson College campus.

  • Prepare Bank Reconciliations projected 13 hours
  • Keying Journal Entries projected 9 hours
  • Do Adjusting Entries for Financial Statements and Print these documents projected 12 hours
  • Review Taxes projected 1 hour
  • Entering Payroll transactions projected 9 hours
  • Preparing a T4 projected 1 hour
  • 2 quizzes are tentatively scheduled for this course projected 6 hours

Asessment of performance

Appropriate mastery of the course objectives is essential to succeed both in the course and in practice. Assessment of student performance will based on their understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to apply key accounting concepts in a computerized environment.
