Prerequisite: Excel Beginner, or equivalent knowledge

Required Material: Students must bring a USB Drive to class

Intermediate Excel builds upon beginner skills with the introduction of management tools to import and work with rows of data to provide meaningful reports and information for business decisions. We will also look at using more complex formulas and logic to create more versatile worksheets.

The hands-on, in-class method allows the student to develop proficiency and confidence working in Excel.

  • Importing data from an outside source
  • Managing data using tables
  • Finding and replacing
  • Sorting and filtering data
  • Searching for data using VLOOKUP & HLOOKUP
  • Enforcing accurate data input
  • Protecting workbook data
  • Analyzing data with PivotTables
  • Visualizing information with PivotCharts
  • Cleaning data using text functions - UPPER, LOWER, PROPER, TRIM
  • Calculating based on conditions
  • Consolidating data
  • Setting named ranges
  • Creating conditional formulas - IF, AND, OR
  • Using functions to check for error

Eligibility:

You are eligible to take these courses if you are:
  • a seasonal worker who is not currently working, but retains ties with his/her employer;
  • self-employed;
  • overqualified for the position you currently hold and the course is relevant to your area of study.
You are not eligible to take these courses if you are:
  • employed in the public or para-public sector;
  • a full-time student;
  • unemployed and/or receiving employment insurance or welfare;
  • receiving CSST (worker's compensation) from the SAAQ.
